Do I need property & casualty insurance experience to join Assurance?
No, though you will give yourself a better chance to start strong if you have prior experience. You will need an Auto insurance license for at least 10 states. Prior phone sales experience also helps agents become successful.
What is the chargeback window?
Around four months — much shorter than the industry average.
Do I get residuals?
There are no residuals. Instead, agents focus on sales volume from a steady stream of free, inbound, pre-screened leads. Compensation includes guaranteed sales bonuses. This is a non-captive agent position.
Am I a captive agent?
No. Agents who use the Assurance platform are free to work as an agent with other employers or for themselves. You can make Assurance your sole source of income, or you can supplement with other jobs. This is a non-captive, 1099 contractor opportunity.
Do I have to be appointed through Assurance?
Yes. If you are currently appointed with our carriers through another agency, you must request a release and get new appointments through Assurance. We've worked with thousands of agents and our specialized team is here to support you! We'll help you get the information you need for carrier contracting, certifcations, and appointments.
Any tips for success before I start?
Each agent has their own definition of “success.” But we do find that agents with lots of phone sales experience, entrepreneurial spirit, disciplined time management skills, and comfort with technology tend to have a good experience.
What are your requirements?
To become a non-captive P&C agent at Assurance, you will need:
  • Licensed in the following states at minimum: TX, GA, AZ, SC, CT, NJ, FL
  • Carrier Releases. If you are currently contracted with another FMO/Agency, you must be able to secure an immediate release.
  • Active E&O insurance with $1M in coverage at time of onboarding
  • 1099 agents provide their own equipment. Laptop or computer with highspeed internet (20mbps download and 10mbps upload). Softphone-compatible USB headset.
  • Agents who commit at least 20 hours per week tend to have more success than other agents.
Why do I need 10+ state licenses?
Agents who have more state licenses have more success on the Assurance Platform. When you start selling at Assurance, you will get calls from shoppers across the country. The more state licenses you have, the more people you can help. If you don't already have 10 state licenses, you must acquire additional licenses during your Assurance onboarding period.
Are there benefits?
This is a contract (1099) role, so there are no traditional benefits. We focus on providing advantages, like no-cost resources, for agents on the Assurance platform. Assurance IQ is a subsidiary of Prudential Financial. Contracts are with Assurance, not Prudential. This is a non-captive agent position.
